All of humanity’s problems stem from our inability to sit quietly in a room alone. ~Blaise Pascal
Hello Mindful Souls,
This new micro-meditation starts at the beginning, with the basics of posture. It’s something that is often overlooked, but becoming more aware of a few simple things can help deepen your meditation and relax your nervous system. I like to remind folks that when your nervous system is calm, you are calm!
If you’re new to meditation, and even is you can use a refresher, this 10-minute “Coming Into Rest” meditation will help you tune into your body and find a posture that is comfortable for you. You’ll learn how to cultivate a restful awareness that will serve as the foundation for your meditation practice. You’ll focus on releasing tension and finding your balance as you tune into your breath and to the soundscape around you. You’ll relax your vagus nerve, a master nerve that connects to and communicates with every major system in your body.
We’ll be building and expanding your meditation skills a little bit at a time with these meditations. From time to time, I’ll add a meditation on a different subject, and then I will return to the progression we’re working on. So if you’re new to meditation, this is meant to give you a good start and ease you into your journey step by step.
If you’re enjoying these meditations, please tell a friend about them! I’m on a mission to get more people meditating, and I love beginners! Subscribe for free, and each new meditation I post will go straight to your inbox. Each meditation is downloadable.
I’m a breast cancer survivor, and it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so I’m sharing a link to my recent blog post “Just 20 Seconds of Courage.” It’s about how a firewalk helped me to overcome fear after a cancer diagnosis and expand my belief in what’s possible. It’s from my blog on my website, Pando Unlimited, where I write about mindful living, creativity, and possibility, a sister project to what I do here on Your Interior Land. I hope you’ll give it a read. Here’s the link:
